Throwback Thurday: Mariah Carey's Daydream That Turned Into Reality

This past October 3 marked the 17 year anniversary of The Queen of Pop Mariah Carey's fifth studio album titled "Daydream", released in 1995. Carey was already on a hot streak during the 90's as an unstoppable force that was breaking records left and right. Carey wielded a crisp, yet buttery powerful tone and an angelic whistle register that only dogs and birds could fully appreciate. She broke even more records when she released her first single to Daydream titled "Fantasy" which became the first song by a female artist to debut at number one. The song topped the Billboard Hot 100 for 8 weeks and became the second best selling single of 1995. Her next single, "One Sweet Day" would go on to become most successful song of all time, as it spent a breath taking 16 weeks at #1 on the billboard hot 100. As of 2012, the song still holds an unbroken 17 year record of most weeks at the top of the Hot 100. One Sweet Day is the longest running number one song in the history of music. Daydream was subsequently released to universal acclaim, debuted at number one on the billboard 200, sold 25 million copies worldwide and 10 million copies in the states alone. This album would go on to be regarded as one of the most influential and best selling albums of all time. It has also been recognized by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as one of the Definitive 200 albums that every music lover should own. However, Despite the phenomenal success this album has garnered, Daydream remains quite underrated in terms of its legacy and influence. This album undoubtedly gave rise to a new trend and changed the face of music forever. Mariah Carey single handedly pioneered and catapulted the art of the pop/rap collaboration, inspiring countless acts after her with one song that started it all. It was the Fantasy Remix featuring O.D.B.. Without the inception of this historal song, there would be no "Crazy In Love" with Beyonce and Jay-Z, "Love The Way You Lie" with Rihanna and Eminem, "California Gurls" with Katy Perry and Snoop Dogg and countless other hip-pop collaborations. John Norris of MTV said of the Fantasy Remix's influence:

"That one remix is responsible for, I would argue, an entire wave of music that we've seen since and that is the pop/hip-hop collaboration. You could arge that Fantasy Remix is the single most important recording that she ever made."

With that being said, we salute you Ms. Mariah Carey and your flawless Daydream album. It has undoubtedly inspired countless pop, r&b and hip-hop acts whether they want to admit it or not. Your myriad singing styles within this album, notably singing in head voice with songs like Underneath The Stars gave birth to a new kind of r&b. As long as I live, I will never forget the shattering impact of the Daydream album.

During early to mid 1996 in order to support Daydream, Carey embarked on her short, yet successful Daydream World Tour that lasted 7 dates. Luckily, her Madison Square Garden and Tokyo Dome show were taped and later released on video, while other dates have been uploaded to youtube since then. Every show performed on the Daydream Tour was given critical acclaim, complementing the astonishing versatility and power of Carey's vocals. Millions could only watch in awe and wonder how such beautiful and powerful notes could come from such a small frame.

Copyonce Will Perform At The 2013 SuperBowl

It's been a minute since Plagiaronce has performed but now she seems eager and ready to dance, scream and plagiarize herself right back into the spotlight. According to the associated press, my fellow Houstonian will headline the SuperBowl XLVII Halftime Show on February 3rd 2013. This will take place at the Mercedez-Benz SuperDome in New Orleans, Louisiana. Im also getting word that her performances my include Camel-Z and those other two girls that made up Destiny's Child. LMAO yeah I know Im wrong as hell, but look on the brightside. If this rumor about Kelly and Michelle joining Bey for a performance, atleast this will breathe life into their dead as a doornail careers! You gotta take what you can get sometimes, hahaha. Anyways, as you may remember this isnt the "Love On Top" singer's first time at the SuperBowl. She also performed the "Star Spangled Banner" at the 2004 SuperBowl held in her old stomping grounds, Houston Texas.

The American Music Award Nominations Give Hope For Music

NAAAAHHHH Im just fucking with you HAHAHA!!! The quality of music gets worse every year! What kind of world do we live in where Nicki Garbaj and Riherpes lead with the amount of American Music Awards nominations? I'll tell you! Its the same world that makes that retarded ass gangan style song or whatever the hell it's called become a #1 single. Its the same world that gives Beyonce 16 grammys, but Mariah Carey only 5. Its the same world that made that call me maybe song become a #1 single for 9 weeks. I could go on and on, but let me not raise my blood pressure this morning like I always do when I think of the kind of fuckery above. Anyways, I cant believe Im saying this but now I will notify you folks of the highlights of the American Music Awards. There are some wonderful announcements that entail this list, but I warn you. They are in the very few and far between so lets get started.

- Rihanna and Lil Kim :ahem: I mean Nicki Garbaj lead the nominations with four each.

- Justine Beaver gets three nominations, tying with One Dire Erection, Maroon 5, Drake and Usher.

The Charts Are In And Brandy Did Good...I Guess.

After plugging this album relentlessly despite about 4 push-backs, Brandy can Finally give herself a pat on the back...sort of. I honestly never believed that this album would ever see the light of day, you know sort of like the idea of Brandy's driver's license getting reinstated. Too soon? Oh well sue me because I dont give a damn! Te he he! Her latest effort "Two Eleven" debuted at #3 on the Billboard 200 with 65,000 copies. This is only slghtly less than Two Eleven's Predecessor "Human" released in 2008 that debuted with 73,000 copies, but at #15. At this point, you may be asking yourself "Hey, how did Human debut so low back in 2008 when it was only a slight 8,000 difference?? Shouldn't it have been top 3 like Two Eleven??" Well, the answer to that is NO! Record sales have been horrible for years now and are only getting progessively worse, mainly due to the advent of digital downloading and....wait for it.....PIRACY! Because to this phenomenon, the Billboard 200 had to be adjusted accordingly. The sad truth about it is that folks in this day and age would rather purchase one single of an album from itunes or just simply steal it from a peer to peer sites. If you think Im lying, head to your nearest best buy and head to the CD section. You will see that it has been significantly reduced and compressed. I dont know about anyone else, but I very seldomly purchase a single from an album. I would much rather prefer the physical copy of an album over the digital single, but that's just me. Many american's are already fat and lazy as fuck, so there's no use of making it even worse. Get off your lazy fat ass and buy an album sometime.

Alice Cooper Tells Lady Caca To Stop It With The Bullshit

Alice Cooper recently gave Lady Caca some career advice on how to coexist with her onstage alter-ego and her normal self. That basically means: "Stop it with all that bullshit because you know damn well that you dont truly act like this all the damn time!" LMAO as if! This ridiculously self-righteous ho has been trying to push that "Everybody is beautiful we are born this way" bullshit off on us for the longest! The truth is that no one with a brain and common sense is falling for that except for her delusional little monsturds who are brainwashed escaped mental patients ready to protest and or kill anyone who tries to talk side ways about their wonderful "Mother Monster". Her stans are truthy one of the worst, next to the beliebers. However, I do appreciate Alice's attempts at telling this ho to get the fuck real. Anyways, Alice basically told her that she needs to stop letting her attenton whoring stunts and persona be apart of her everyday life. Too bad that he didnt tell her to "go the fuck away because she's built her entire career from swag jacking everybody in the game" because that would've really thrilled the hell out of me! I would've laughed my ass to death! The rock pionner told readers digest:

"She said, 'Alice, thank you for letting me steal your show.'

"I said, 'GaGa, I created a character called Alice. But it's important to keep Alice on stage. I never let Alice take over my real life'.

"I guess what I was trying to say was, 'Be outrageous for the cameras. Wear a chicken on your head. But don't get suckered into thinking that stuff is real. Lady GagGag was also said to be pleased to meet Alice  because he "influenced her stage shows"

:SIGH: does this ho really thinks anyone takes her bullshit seriously!? She knows damn well that she dont know zilch about Alice Cooper's shows and catalouge! Watching one single youtube video of the latest shit that you wanna steal from somebody is NOT the same as being well versed in a particular entertainer's artistry! She better tell that shit to the only idiots who will believe that, which are her delusional monsturds who believe she's the best thing that music has ever seen. Im NOT lying, folks! Ive seen many of their psychotic twitter rants and thats just only some of the crazy shit they've spewed and that barely scratches the surface!

Adele Gives Birth To A Baby Boy!

Adele has taken a break from watching her sales numbers of "21" increase tenfold every second and counting her bajillion kazillion fafillion euros to pop a baby out. US weekly confirms that the 24 year old (we're the same age but she looks so much older!) singer has given birth to a baby boy. I have also received some whispers that Ms. Chasing Pavements has already began work on her third studio album. Its supposedly gonna be inspired by her life as a new mother and its also said to have a lighter sound than 21. Thank God! I dont wanna hear no more shit about "THERE'S AAAA FIIIREE STARTING IN MAH HEART!" or "NEVERMIND I'LL FIND SOMEONE LIKE YOUUUUUUUU" for the rest of my life! I love Adele, but I've had enough of her album to last me 2 lifetimes! They were even playing "Rolling in the Cash" on 97.9 THE BOX, people! That's a rap station for Christ's sake!

Anyways, Im very much looking forward to the next album having a happier sound and I'm every elated for Ms. Adele so much congrats to her! Adele's "21" was released in January of 2011 and has since then sold 25 million copies worldwide and is 10x platinum here in the states. She's been breaking music records like nobody's business. I didnt even know Adele was with child until she announced it in June, but its usually like that with every fat girl though, isnt it? You dont know they're with child until they say something. You usually just assume that they are...uh...fat as hell until one day your co-worker tells you that your fat friend Martha Dumptruck is in the hospital. Then, you immediately assume "Oh fuck Martha done finally ate herself to death! LAWD HAVE MERCY WHYYY??!?" until theyre like no, stupid Martha had a baby! Then they have the audacity to give you that look like "How did you not know???". Then youre like "bitch how the fuck was I supposed to know? She's looked pregnant everyday for 20+ years!! Dont play with me!"

MANdonna Desparately Tries To Keep Pissing People Off.

In a desparate attempt to remain relevant, MANdonna has found yet another way to piss off everybody more than the usual of blinding people by showing her face. The skull and crossbones on this ho's trucker hat says it all. It's a warning to whomever may cast a glance upon that mug of hers resembling the broken condom baby of The Crypt-Keeper and Jocelyn Wildenstein. Its a no brainer why her whole team is afraid of her ass. With a face like that, Id be scared shitless around her ass too. Who the hell wants to be turned into stone?

On the Denver, Colorado leg of Mudge's latest tour where she's performed hits like "Gimme All Your Medicare" and "Granny's Gone Senile", she conjured up a sore subject and crossed the line with her audience. During the entertainer's performance of "Express Yourself" she implemented her gun shooting skit within the song and simulated shooting into the crowd, including a blood spattered screen in the background. If youre still wondering what the big deal is at this point, please recall the July 20th Aurora, Colorado shooting that took place during a screening of "The Dark Knight Rises", killing 12 people and injuring 58 others. Several concert-goers expressed their resentment for this calling it an "insensitivity and "lack of respect" yet some expressed their support, reasons citing "freedom of speech" and "oversensitivity". A supportive concert fan was quoted as saying "If it is such an issue, Denver needs to ban all TV, movies and broadway shows with any guns period." There were also complaints of Transdonna starting the show remarkably late, as well as her stepping on a cross and making everyone vomit by raising her shirt up revealing the name "OBAMA!" printed on her chest. Not because of the Obama part, mind you.

I can tell you now that the cross incident was probably just a way of telling the crowd that her ancient ass was one of the attendees of the cruxifiction of Jesus. In regards to the shooting, one can probably argue that the old hag simply had a case of alzheimers and forgot about those events, or probably just didnt give a damn at all which is what Im probably leaning towards. My thoughts are that one should initially know what they're getting themself into if their gonna attend a MANdonna concert. The old ho has built her 10,000 year career entirely from causing shock value. Lord knows that it certainly wasnt because of talent. When you cant sing, nor dance I guess the next best option is to shock people by stealing already acted upon ideas, saying shit that nobody wants to hear, or jump roping during your concert. How the fuck you gon' jump rope for a show? Let's face it, folks. This old ass battle axe is on her way out of here in terms of being relevant. Im personally waiting for the day her ass fades away completely. I do not own not one MANdonna album, nor do I plan on buying one anytime soon. Sue me. Anyways, what do you guys think? Should Transdonna have been more considerate or did she have every right to excercise her freedom of speech?

Floptina Avoids The Obvious

When Christina Aguilera isnt trying to eat herself out of house and home or take makeup suggestions from Pennywise, she's promoting her soon to be released album Lotus, which drops November 13th. Just in case you dont know, the title is in reference to her overcoming all of the hell that she went through for her floptastic album "Bionic", which has only been certified wood since it's 2010 release. In relation to the lotus flower itself, this particular flower grows within the most harshest climate conditions. Im touched, I really am. Anyways, the voluptuous ever straining diva recently sat down for an interview with Sunrise news to talk about her album cover, her newly acquired fuller figure and other shit.

Aguilera explains "Ive always been about embracing your body since day one and I think thats a message for every woman for every shape and size". The singer also explains the concept of the album cover saying that she wanted the main focus to be nothing "superficial". However, when being presented with the question of if any photoshop was used to make her smaller, homegirl dodged that shit and went around it faster than she does when she sees the nearest gym. She circumvented the question by saying, "Well, we covered the boobs and played with lighting a little bit...".

Im sorry but did the lady ask your ass if you photoshopped your fat out or if you played with lighting? Atleast keep the shit 100 if youre truly "embracing your new figure"! Just say "yes, it took the merging of 20 adobe products and the entire cgi team from avatar to get me that small, but I dont give a damn! Im big and Im proud, ho! Now where's the nearest Outback from here??!?" See? Now was that so hard? My thing is that if you claim to be so excited about your new shape, then be truthful in every aspect of it and dont beat around the damn bush.

You can watch the interview video below:

Mariah Is Working With The-Cream... Again

Amidst all of the calamity that Mariah Carey has had to put up with lately involving her prescence on American Idol and a certain talentless swag jacking so called artist, she still found time to fly her butterfly ass into the studio and resume work on her highly anticipated 14th studio album. Earlier this week, the Queen of Pop posted the picture above from her twitter of herself and The-Cream along with the following message: "Living The-American-Dream pon de studio". The-Dreamsicle's fatass is seen here flashing money like a true dumbass nigga, sporting tits bigger than Mariah's and small ass womanly arms. How wonderful. Im sure Christina Miliwhatsherface had a wonderful time jumping on that. Bleh.

Anyways, aside from being a highly successful r&b singer-songwriter in his own right, The-Cream and Mariah's most famous writing collab is the catchy "Touch My Body". It became "The Make It Happen" singer's 18th number one hit, thus breaking her tie with Elvis Presley and making her the solo artist with the most number one hits, only rivaled by The Beatles who have 20. The-Cream also served as co-writer and co-producer of Mariah's underwhelming effort "Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel". Memoirs sold considerably less than Mariah's record breaking predecessor "E=MC2". To be an artist of Mariah's Carey's caliber who's undoubtedly set the bar extremely high during her 22+ year career, many are anxious to see how this new album will fair on the charts, provided the rather lackluster performance of Memoirs.

I honestly dont like the idea of Mariah working with The-Cream again, but what can you do about it? Their writing work together has always been very "meh" to me. All I can do is hope she's working with him on one song together as opposed to the entire album like Memoirs. One interesting thing to note though, is that Memoirs may not have sold as much as it's predecessors, but it critically did better than Mariah's 6X platinum selling "The Emancipation of Mimi" and the platinum selling "E=Mc2".

Memoirs currently holds a cumulative critical score of 70 at Metacritic, while "Mimi" scored 64 and E=MC2 scored 63. At the end of the day, different albums and music in general is purely subjective, but one fact remains which is all eyes will be on Carey once this new album drops next year. One can only wonder how the record breaking diva will fair once her album drops. What do you think? Will the best selling female artist of all time flop, or do what she does best which is breaking records? Only God knows.

A Well Deserved Victory For Miguel!

Its seems that all of Miguel's hard work has finally materialized into big numbers and general acclaim! R&b game changer Miguel released his follow up to his stunning debut, "All I Want Is You", titled "Kaleidoscope Dream" on October 3rd, 2012. The captivating sophomore album debuted at #3 on the Billboard 200 with 71,000 copies in its first week, a more than vast commercial improvement over "All I Want Is You". It dissapointingly debuted at #109 with 11,000 copies back in 2010, peaking at #37 and has sold 397,000 copies to date.

However, Miguel did find success in his single "Sure Thing" from the debut "..You", which went to #1 on the US R&b charts due to heavy airplay and an infectious beat with a positive universally relatable message of a promise to love someone "for better or worse". Pssh if only people in this day and age had morals like that, right!? Te he he! Anyways, The success of this album can be attributed to the powerful single "Adorn" which soon became Miguel's third number one single on the US R&b charts and so far has peaked at #26 on the Hot 100. Its actually a breath of fresh air to see singles like this, which were composed AND produced all by Miguel himself make progress on the charts as opposed to less than talented artists, :cough: :cough: Riherpes whose singles become number one hits with little creative input from the main artist and was mainly created from the hard work of writing teams and hot at the moment producers.

Another single from "Kaleidoscope" that may soon reach the summit is the daydreamy guitar laden composition simply, yet ambiguously titled "Do You..". This song was initially released as a 2 part EP series from the singer/songwriter called "Kaleidoscope Dream: The Air Preview" EP which was released a month ago on September 11, as well as "Kaleidoscope Dream: The Water Preview" EP released the month before "Air" respectively. In the beginning of this song, Miguel coos in a dreamy echoing inquisitive tone "Do you like drugs? Have you ever felt alone? Do you still believe in love?" in an attempt to captivate the listener almost instantaneously and to ultimately pull them into his world where dreams become reality. This song, along with many other songs from this must buy album will have you hooked. I've owned this album since the first day it came out and I must say that  it was undoubtedly worth every penny and hands down, one of the best albums of 2012! Go get your copy of Kaleidoscope Dream NOW! Full album review coming soon!
