Amidst all of the calamity that Mariah Carey has had to put up with lately involving her prescence on American Idol and a certain talentless swag jacking so called artist, she still found time to fly her butterfly ass into the studio and resume work on her highly anticipated 14th studio album. Earlier this week, the Queen of Pop posted the picture above from her twitter of herself and The-Cream along with the following message: "Living The-American-Dream pon de studio". The-Dreamsicle's fatass is seen here flashing money like a true dumbass nigga, sporting tits bigger than Mariah's and small ass womanly arms. How wonderful. Im sure Christina Miliwhatsherface had a wonderful time jumping on that. Bleh.
Anyways, aside from being a highly successful r&b singer-songwriter in his own right, The-Cream and Mariah's most famous writing collab is the catchy "Touch My Body". It became "The Make It Happen" singer's 18th number one hit, thus breaking her tie with Elvis Presley and making her the solo artist with the most number one hits, only rivaled by The Beatles who have 20. The-Cream also served as co-writer and co-producer of Mariah's underwhelming effort "Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel". Memoirs sold considerably less than Mariah's record breaking predecessor "E=MC2". To be an artist of Mariah's Carey's caliber who's undoubtedly set the bar extremely high during her 22+ year career, many are anxious to see how this new album will fair on the charts, provided the rather lackluster performance of Memoirs.
I honestly dont like the idea of Mariah working with The-Cream again, but what can you do about it? Their writing work together has always been very "meh" to me. All I can do is hope she's working with him on one song together as opposed to the entire album like Memoirs. One interesting thing to note though, is that Memoirs may not have sold as much as it's predecessors, but it critically did better than Mariah's 6X platinum selling "The Emancipation of Mimi" and the platinum selling "E=Mc2".
Memoirs currently holds a cumulative critical score of 70 at Metacritic, while "Mimi" scored 64 and E=MC2 scored 63. At the end of the day, different albums and music in general is purely subjective, but one fact remains which is all eyes will be on Carey once this new album drops next year. One can only wonder how the record breaking diva will fair once her album drops. What do you think? Will the best selling female artist of all time flop, or do what she does best which is breaking records? Only God knows.
